Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu lost in the quarterfinals Denmark Open 2021. Meeting Huang Dong Ping/Zheng Yu (China), the Indonesian women’s doubles pair lost 21-14, 10-21, 13-21 in 55 minutes.
Playing at Odense Stadium court 1, Friday (22/10), Greysia/Apriyani appeared fierce in the first set. They only got behind 0-1, but after that they continued to excel until they closed the interval with a score of 11-7.
After the interval, the dominance of Greysia/Apriyani continued, even winning 16-8. Although the Huang/Zheng duo tried to catch up to 12-16, Greysia/Apriyani finally closed the first set with a score of 21-14.
In the second set, it was Huang/Zheng who were dominant, even leading 7-2. Greysia/Apriyani closed the gap to 6-8, but the Chinese pair managed to add three straight points and closed the interval with an 11-6 advantage.
After the interval, Huang/Zheng became less and less caught up. Greysia/Apriyani only able to add 4 points, while Huang/Zheng continued to gain points one after another until they finally won 21-10.
In the decider, a tight score came back only at the start. It was 2-2, but Huang/Zheng then moved away and closed the interval with a score of 11-5. After that, the Chinese women’s doubles were increasingly difficult to stop. The ups and downs Greysia/Apriyani chased the points, but eventually had to admit the 13-21 advantage.
Thus, Indonesia’s representatives in the women’s doubles have already run out, following the men’s doubles and women’s singles who have lifted their suitcases first.
While in court 2, Tommy Sugiarto managed to advance to the semifinals after defeating the representative of India, Sameer Verma. Tommy won 21-17 in the first set, and the second set was not played because Verma decided to retire and was unable to continue the match.
In the semifinals, Tommy will challenge the winner between Jonatan Christie vs Kento Momota (Japan).
