Direct speech: “This ecocide, as a continuation of Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine, is yet another atrocity that leaves the world speechless. Our eyes are again on Russia, which must be held accountable for its crimes.”

Details: This call appeared on the third day after the Russian military blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, destroyed its turbine hall and dam, which led to the flooding of the left and right banks of the Dnieper in the Kherson region, to the shallowing of the Kakhovka reservoir, to casualties among people and animals, to loss of cultural heritage.

Thunberg also published her position after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on more than 60 world political and public figures, including a young Swedish eco-activist, to punish Russia for ecocide.
