“Greta Thunberg is the voice of a generation. Over the past three years, the Swedish teenager has become the most recognizable activist in the world, calling on world leaders to end the climate crisis. Given our love of nature, we couldn’t think of anyone more suitable for the debut cover of Vogue Scandinavia,” says in the publication’s message.
“Ideally, it would be just to go back to school and finish my studies and not worry about the climate. But as long as there is a need for activists, I will probably be an activist,” stated Thunberg in an interview with Vogue Scandinavia.
Thunberg also said that conspiracy theories are constantly woven around her. Either she is an American spy, or a Russian agent, or a communist or an extreme capitalist.
“One second I am controlled by my parents, I cannot think on my own; the next second I am a vicious little child, prone to manipulation,” she said.
Thunberg became famous as the founder of the action “School strike for the climate” (another name – “Fridays for the Future”). As part of an open-ended campaign, she urged students and schoolchildren to go to rallies on Fridays instead of studying.
September 23, 2019 schoolgirl made an accusatory speech at the UN climate summit in New York. Thunberg said that humanity is on the cusp of mass extinction, but all world leaders talk about is money.
Climate activist twice nominated for the Nobel Prize award, in December 2019 by Time magazine named the Swede the person of the year.
