The UN climate summit COP26 starts on Sunday in Glasgow – one year according to plan.
In the coming weeks, the climate crisis will be in focus when 25,000 politicians, activists and top leaders from around the world are waiting in the Scottish city to find out how the world community should curb greenhouse gas emissions.
The Swedish world-renowned climate activist Gretha Thunberg is also in place.
Thunberg arrived at Glasgow Central Station by train on Saturday night, departing from London Euston. She was quickly surrounded by a large entourage of police, press photographers and activists at the station.
After leaving the train, she was surrounded by police and other activists through the station. The Daily Mail describes her reception as a «rock star reception».
But at the moment it is unclear whether she has been invited to attend the official part of the meeting.
– I do not know, it is very unclear. Not officially, she replied when asked by the BBC.

–Promises climate billions
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party) has already notified that Norway will put big money on the table at the UN climate conference in Glasgow.
Støre’s government will double Norwegian climate financing to developing countries within five years – from seven to 14 billion kroner annually.
Among the demonstrations planned in Glasgow is a march through the city on November 5, organized by Fridays for Future Scotland, and Thunberg is also expected to give a speech at a gathering next Saturday.
