This Thursday, October 12, the migrant families who had been living in the camp set up in the Clos d’Or parking lot in Grenoble since the end of March were evacuated. An operation carried out in the presence of elected officials and social workers from the City of Grenoble and the CCAS, to “be particularly vigilant in respecting human rights”, specifies the City in a press release.

Rejoicing that “this site and the local residents can find peace and quiet, and that a significant number of families have been able to benefit from guidance towards accommodation solutions and access to rights”, the municipality regrets that other have been directed towards the preparation system for returning to their country of origin. Recalling that “any person, whatever their administrative status, whatever their country of origin, [a] right to accommodation. It’s a right in France.”
