Call for donations of computers to be refurbished
Among the speakers, in addition to a law professor specializing in particular in digital law, at Grenoble Ecole de Management and a public writer from the City of Grenoble, was Victor Baysang-Michelin, regional director ofEmmaüs Connect, an association present in Grenoble with six permanent staff and around fifty active volunteers. The latter has launched an appeal for donations of computers and other digital tablets to be reconditioned with a view to reselling them at solidarity prices to families in need. “We have developed a solidarity sector via integration projects and we are looking for donationshe commented. 22% of the population does not have digital equipment at home”, he recalled. Around fifty computers donated by lawyers from the Grenoble Bar were collected with a view to being refurbished.
“The alert must be sounded”
Me Pierre Janot provided some figures on the national level: “According to INSEE, illiteracy concerns 17% (about 11 million) of the population, 34% of people with little or no qualifications and 16% of the most modest households. If we do not deal with this question, we will enter into the great downgrading. We cannot follow the same rules. A deprived citizen is excluded and cannot access the rights offered by the republican community. The alarm must be sounded! »
Me Janot adds that the environmental commission of the Grenoble bar will challenge the local public authorities (prefecture, departmental council, regional council and City of Grenoble) on this issue of the “digital disinsertion”. He adds : “We think that access to law is a problem for litigants and that lawyers are not sufficiently involved in practical issues: setting up digital platforms. The idea would be to make proposals to facilitate access to the law via digital technology. We will do this within the framework of the next commissions by the end of June. »
Nature’s trial of humanity staged
Next event organized by the commission scheduled for the first half of 2023: “We are going to organize a fictitious trial at the Grenoble Assize Court with young people from priority education zones, announces Me Janot. The goal is to stage the trial that nature would make to man. Young people will choose the natural element that they want to preserve. There will be a “naturator” who will sue the human being for what he has inflicted on the environment. It is both theatre, environmental awareness and a first approach to justice. The idea is also to associate all the auxiliaries of justice, the magistrature, the clerks and the lawyers. »
