France lacks blood, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is no exception. The reserves for the summer are insufficient. This is why the French Blood Establishment (EFS) has renewed its call for mobilization. The EFS of Grenoble moves this Friday, June 17 and this Saturday, June 18 in the city garden of the Iséroise prefecture.
June 14 was World Blood Donor Day. A strong moment to remind the lack of stock for the coming summer. In France, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region is on the highest step of the podium for blood collection. However, donations are likely to run out with the resumption of operating programs at the hospital and the arrival of the holidays.

“We are a little worried. Our stocks are quite low, even if there has been an initial response to the call for donations. But we really need to increase our stocks before the summer which is always a period a little difficult because the needs are still great and because the donors are less present”confirms Catherine Manzotti, head of samples at EFS Grenoble.
To donate, all you need to do is be in good health and between the ages of 18 and 70. New this year: sexual orientation is no longer a criterion. You just have to put all apprehension aside and follow some advice. Marion Kerandel, nurse, explains how it works. “You must have eaten, not be fasting. Then you come to the collection room. The sample takes between five and twelve minutes. And then move on to restoration, 20 minutes minimum, so that the donor can regain some strength.“
“If we can do it, we should all do it at least once“says Farès, who came to make his first blood donation at the EFS in Grenoble, this Tuesday, June 14. For his part, Camille has gotten into the habit of donating blood, respecting the eight-week period between each donation.”I’m not at all afraid of blood tests so for me it’s quite easy.“
To attract future donors, the French Blood Establishment will be installed in the city garden of Grenoble, this Friday June 17 and this Saturday June 18, between 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
