Grêmio announces that Renato Portaluppi will remain in technical command of the men’s main team for the next season. The agreement took place at the end of this week and the contract will last until the end of 2024. Your committee will have as technical assistants Alexandre Mendes, Marcelo Salles and Victor Hugo Signorelli.
In the current season, Renato led the team in winning the fourth championship of the Recopa Gaúcha and the sixth championship in Gauchão. In the year he returned to the elite, through national competitions, he led Tricolor to the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil and to runner-up in the Brasileirão, guaranteeing a place in the group stage of the Conmebol Libertadores da América.
Renato is considered one of the greatest idols of the Grêmio nation, in addition to having won historic titles as an athlete, such as the Libertadores and the Club World Cup in 1983, he is the coach who has been most in charge of the Club’s technical command. There are 483 games, in four spells. On his successful resume, he has won the Copa do Brasil (2016), Copa Libertadores (2017), Recopa Sul-Americana (2018), Campeonato Gaúcho (2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023) and Recopa Gaúcha (2019 and 2023).
The Grêmio squad will return on January 8th for pre-season tests and evaluations. At the end of the same month, they will face the Gauchão and Recopa Gaúcha disputes. In April, the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship are scheduled to begin. The following month, Grêmio enters the competition for the Copa do Brasil.
