The RC Auch general manager, away in Périgueux today, reflects on the successes of the club’s first half of the season, but remains grounded, aware of the challenges ahead.
After the end of the first leg, Gregory Menkarska, general manager of the Auscitain, takes stock of the mid-season.
After this “exit” phase, what are your impressions of this National 2?
Frankly, it’s a beautiful championship. All teams are equal. You have to question yourself, be 100% in every match and when you don’t, something is missing regardless of your status, we saw it at the Floirac.
How is RCA today?
It is very good sportingly from ladies to seniors through the M14, the junior cadets are all first or second and 200 kids in the EDR. The club is working well, training continues.
Like last season, RCA is at the top of its mid-season pool. What inspires you about the group’s performance?
1st draw, Niort is first in goal average. He is honorary because first halfway through the championship, he doesn’t let you eat. We saw it at the end of the season last year. So behold, Niort is first, I leave them. We see that the teams at the bottom of the table are proving to be like Floirac against us or Arcachon against Périgueux. Every weekend there are surprises in this pool. It shouldn’t be a bad surprise for us. We have to recover well, we had 42 players at the start of the season in the group, we used 37. It’s good when we used 25 last year with huge time gaps. We manage to make game time exist because the sooner the end is better, being in the middle is useless.
Exactly, what feelings about the sequel?
I will not remake the image of the Tour de France with its mountain stages. Simply put, Périgueux and Niort are superior. We have to be happy with the result, the defensive bonus at Floirac is also important, to remind us that at Anglet we start with nothing. The matches are hung to the end. A new championship is starting with Périgueux and Niort where we will go as well as Saint-Jean-de-Luz in mid-January for a complicated second leg. We have to finish first behind Niort and Périgueux to be well paid. Ambitious is the first but let’s be realistic, we stay in our place.
