TOKYO – Women’s singles from Indonesia, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung had to finish her journey in Indonesia Tokyo 2020 Olympics only in the round of 16. This was after Gregoria Mariska lost to the representative of Thailand, namely Ratchanok Intanon with a score of 12-21 and 19-21.
Playing on Field 2 Musashino Forest Plaza on Thursday (29/7/2021) morning WIB, Gregoria has seen difficulties facing Intanon since the first game just started. This can be seen from the immediate abandonment of Gregoria with a score of 0-4.
Even when Gregoria had just created her first point, Intanon had already collected seven points. Intanon’s fast game left Gregoria 4-11 behind in the first interval.
Intanon was able to get a lot of points quickly and could not be separated from the mistakes made by Gregoria. The Wonogiri-born badminton player often fails to send shuttlecocks to the Intanon area because most of them are stuck in the net.
Gregoria had tried to catch up in the remnants of the first game. However, Intanon was finally able to lock up the first game and made Gregoria have to admit defeat at the start with a score of 12-21 with 15 minutes.
Entering the second game, the game did not change much. Intanon still controlled the match and Gregoria still struggled to face the game shown by the Thai representative.
Since the beginning of the second game, Gregoria has been quite far behind Intanon. The score was 3-8 and in the end Gregoria still failed to catch up until the interval with a score of 5-11.
