Greg Miller Says “Multiple Sources” Pointed To Sony’s Purchase Of Square Enix

Greg Miller revealed in his podcast PS I Love You that one of big announcements he expected to happen some time ago it was Sony’s purchase of Square Enix and that ‘multiple sources’ pointed to this.

“When I talked about the three rumors I heard, and one was an acquisition, this is what I heard,” Miller said on the PS I Love You podcast (via Push Square). “I heard that PlayStation was acquiring Square and I heard it from a number of different sources.”

Miller surmises that it is possible that some wires were crossed when we heard about the Embracer Group Acquires West Side of Square Enix: “Could it be that Square was trying to sell its western studios and that was the rumor? Consider everything a rumor. That’s what I heard though, that PlayStation was trying to buy Square.”

As Miller points out later in the podcast, anything is possible in this era where publishers like Activision Blizzard are being bought for nearly $70 billion. However, keep in mind whenever you hear a big rumor about a major corporate acquisition, approach it with skepticism.
