BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Greens boss Robert Habeck has proposed an extended partial lockdown for corona hotspots. One can imagine that in the “dark red regions” shops that do not serve daily needs will be closed, he said on Monday during a digital press conference. In regions where the situation with regard to the corona virus is good, however, easing could possibly take place.
He called for “regional differentiation” on the basis of uniform standards. “It would be wrong to loosen and repeal the measures across the board,” said Habeck. One must state “that the breakwater did not break the wave as it was hoped or promised”.
With a view to the budget, Habeck criticized plans by Federal Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD), according to which from 2022 only as many loans should be taken out as the debt brake anchored in the constitution allows. He could not understand how Scholz could promise now, in view of the economic consequences of the crisis, to comply with the debt brake again from 2022.
The budget committee is discussing the federal budget 2021 this Thursday in the so-called adjustment meeting. The Bundestag is supposed to adopt the budget in mid-December. Most recently it became known that the federal government wants to spend significantly more money in the fight against the consequences of the corona pandemic in the next year than previously planned
