The LAG Education is one of the longest existing in the state association. For us, the concept of lifelong learning is just as central to our work as the creation of framework conditions to develop a conducive school climate: School policy that sees itself as “climate policy” in this sense will have the most lasting effects on children and young people. School should be a “Polis”: A manageable place where everyone learns that they are needed. A safe place where you can make mistakes.
In this sense, we deal with political approaches that want to change the existing school system.
In recent years we have had to deal with the state government’s school closure policy – against the background of falling student numbers. Nevertheless, our central project of longer joint learning is not primarily a school maintenance program, but above all a way to create the conditions for an individual learning culture and equal opportunities, as well as to enable schools close to home.
The main points of discussion in recent times have also been the (controversial) introduction of a free pre-school year, the connection between school network planning and school transport and the approaches to school social work and school youth work in Saxony that we believe need to be improved. We also discuss the consequences of the planned administrative reform in Saxony and the pros and cons of the municipalization of teachers.
