This message will at least cheer up Peter Bosz’s mood. The weak appearance in the 1-4 against VfL Wolfsburg had spooked the mood of the Leverkusen coach. Especially since the chess moves of the Dutchman like the switch at half-time to a three-man chain with midfield strategist Charles Aranguiz as the central defender did not have the desired effect. On the contrary: Aranguiz caused the second Wolfsburg goal with a bad pass.
No structural injury at Bender
Aranguiz was on the defensive after Bosz had to take defensive head Sven Bender from the field because of a foot injury in addition to the two performance changes of Mitchell Weiser and Karim Bellarabi. After the game, Bosz could not yet assess how serious this was. On Wednesday there was the all-clear. There is no structural violation.
This should make Bender ready for action on Friday in Freiburg as well as left-back Daley Sinkgraven. The Dutchman had muscular problems in the thigh after the 3-1 win in Gladbach on Saturday, but is said to be ready for action again after his break against Wolfsburg in Freiburg on Friday.
Sinkgraven waves to the starting eleven
Even if Sinkgraven did not deliver their best games in Bremen and Gladbach, the strong left foot in Freiburg could get back into the starting line-up. His rival, the Brazilian Wendell, did not know how to convince Wolfsburg and could not decisively disrupt VfL outside Renato Steffen in his headed goal to 0: 3. Sven Bender is already set up as a defense boss under Bosz for the starting eleven.
