Green hydrogen: “Morocco Offer” received nearly 40 project requests

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) has received nearly 40 project requests in the different regions of the Kingdom, six months after the dissemination of the circular from the head of government relating to the implementation of the “Morocco Offer” for the development of the green hydrogen sector.

According to a press release from the department of the head of government, the steering committee responsible for the “Morocco Offer” for green hydrogen, which met on Thursday under the chairmanship of the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, examined the methodology that will be adopted for the evaluation and selection of projects through a rigorous definition of criteria.

These project requests demonstrate the keen interest and effective interaction of national investors and major international operators in the energy sector for the “Morocco Offer”, considered competitive, integrated, transparent and practical, the press release said. “This interest expressed by investors covers the different regions of the Kingdom, from the north of Morocco to its southern provinces,” the same source noted.

In this context, the State had undertaken, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, to define a significant public land area of approximately 1 million hectares, with a view to encouraging and supporting project leaders and developing this promising sector, while ensuring within a contractual framework to guarantee the preservation and proper use of this public land area.

This meeting takes place in application of the High Directives of HM King Mohammed VI, “calling for the rapid and qualitative implementation of this offer, in order to enhance the assets that our country has in this area and to best respond to the projects supported by global investors in this promising sector.”

The meeting was attended by Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Tarik Moufaddal, Chairman and CEO of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, as well as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
