“green” duel in the 2nd constituency of Côte-d’Or

The presidential majority invests Benoît Bordat (ex-Cap 21) in the 2nd constituency of Côte d’Or. A choice motivated by the announced nomination of Catherine Hervieu (EELV) by the Popular Union.

The 2nd constituency of Côte-d’Or is about to experience a duel tinged with green in the first round of the legislative elections.

The presidential majority invests Benoît Bordat, the former departmental representative of the Cap 21 party and deputy mayor of Dijon. If several names circulated on this constituency reserved for the opening: François Deseille (MODEM), Jean-Philippe Morel (Radical Party) or Ludovic Rochette (Horizons), it was ultimately the thirty-year-old who was chosen by the majority for his environmental commitment and its proximity to the mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen.

This decision is explained by the electoral context of this 2nd constituency. During the congress of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union, it was awarded to Europe-Ecologie Les Verts: Catherine Hervieu will be a candidate there.

Benoît Bordat has been appointed to counter this environmental candidacy under the colors of the Progressive Federation, the micro-party of the mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen rallied to Emmanuel Macron during the presidential elections. “My political history is at the center explains Benoît Bordat. I started at UDF and MODEM. The Progressive Federation asked me to run in the 2nd constituency. I thought it was an opportunity to continue my commitment.”

I take note says Catherine Hervieu, the Europe Ecologie Les Verts candidate.

I wonder about the choice of Benoît Bordat to join the presidential majority as an ecologist when the French state was condemned for climate inaction during the mandate of Emmanuel Macron.

Catherine Hervieu, future candidate NUPES-EELV 2nd constituency of Côte d’Or

Even if the two elected “greens” do not sit in the same groups, they rub shoulders with the municipal and departmental councils. The surprise is all the greater for Catherine Hervieu, that in the presidential election, Benoît Bordat had sponsored the candidacy of Yannick Jadot. The 30-year-old admits having been seduced by Emmanuel Macron’s remarks between the two rounds: “There is a real will of the President of the Republic. I took his speech from Marseille as a call from the foot.”

These two elected officials from Dijon, one stamped with the Progressive Federation, the other EELV, will therefore compete in the 2nd constituency of Côte d’Or in the first round of the legislative elections on June 12, 2022.

Benoît Bordat will be the first candidate supported by the brand new Progressive Federation party. Like Michel Neugnot or Pierre Pribetich, elected socialists close to the mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen, he had clearly taken a position against the Popular Union on May 3, 2022.

For the elected Europe Ecology The Greens, Catherine Hervieu, “the gathering of left-wing forces created a surprise. Some PS elephants find it difficult to understand that the younger generations are worried about their future prospects. Ecologists have taken their responsibilities so that there are ecologists in the National Assembly as in other communities.

By appearing in the colors ofe the presidential majority and the Progressive Federation, Benoît Bordat admits that he will campaign at the center. He will not only campaign on “ecological issues that preoccupy young urbanites because there are also issues of purchasing power, health and safety”. He wants to be part of the continuity of the mandate of Rémi Delatte, the outgoing deputy, while benefiting from the support of François Rebsamen.

Catherine Hervieu relies on her experience and her knowledge of the 2nd constituency to stand out from other “green” candidates: “There are always dissenting green candidates, sometimes testimonials. I have always been straight on the values of ecology and social. I have never deviated. I believe in the political intelligence of voters.”

This “green” duel will have to take into account the presence of the other candidates, in particular Rassemblement national and Les Républicains in this constituency acquired on the right since its creation in 1986.

The outgoing deputy Les Républicains, Rémi Delatte, does not represent himself, which raises hopes in all parties. He has designated his colt for this election. He is his deputy at the town hall of Saint-Apollinaire, in charge of Social and Citizen Innovation, who will be a candidate: Adrien Huguet embarked on the campaign the weekend of May 7 and 8, 2022.
