Greek banks have enough liquidity until July 6 – 2024-08-28 07:42:19

/ world today news/ Greek banks have enough liquidity until they open on Tuesday next week, after the referendum on Sunday is passed, the banking association announced.

Banks have “sufficient liquidity until Tuesday’s scheduled opening,” when capital controls imposed by the government after the collapse of talks with international creditors will be lifted, the association said.

Greek Finance Minister Yannis Varoufakis downplayed fears of a deepening crisis after the European Central Bank’s decision to limit emergency funding could bring the banking sector to its knees.

Earlier in an interview with Bloomberg, Varoufakis said that banks will reopen on Tuesday. /AFP
