Greece will have a ministry for young families

In Greece, they created a separate ministry to help young families with the aim of increasing the birth rate.

More than a quarter of the population is over the age of 65, according to data from the national statistical agency Elstat. Studies by the European Union show that at this rate of development in 2030, Greece will be the most aging nation in Europe.

A Ministry of National Cohesion and Family was established in the new government in Athens. The goals of the new structure is the implementation of a long-term program to create factors to increase the birth rate.

Studies prove that, as a result of the economic crisis, young people are leaving the country, and those who remain are having fewer and fewer children.

The new Ministry of the Family will work in the direction of securing jobs for young families, low-interest housing, encouraging birth rates, higher child allowances and securing places in public kindergartens and schools.

The management of the ministry is in the hands of two young women with experience in social policy, according to estimates of the deputies.
