Unvaccinated people will also have to test twice a week at the workplace, and those who do not have to pay for the test themselves.
In addition to the tests, there will still be shops selling basic necessities and pharmacies, the Minister of Health Tanoss Plevris said on public television on Tuesday night.
On the other hand, fully vaccinated citizens who have reached the age of at least 18 will be able to receive an additional vaccine to strengthen immunity, or so-called booster vaccination, starting on Friday.
Explaining the new restrictions, the Minister pointed out that unvaccinated citizens have a higher risk of infection and therefore need to be more cautious.
At the same time, it is not possible to re-declare general quarantine, Plevris stressed.
In Greece, the number of new infections has risen sharply recently.
On Tuesday, 6,700 new infections were detected, a record since the start of the pandemic.
In hospital intensive care units, almost 90% of the beds for Covid-19 patients have already been filled.
According to Plevra, 73% of adults in Greece are currently fully vaccinated.
