The Greek government is dissatisfied with the actions of the German authorities on the supply of weapons to Ukraine. In particular, Germany has not yet sent German tanks to the European country in exchange for Greek officials agreeing on the transfer of their old combat vehicles to Ukrainian troops. About it informs German publication Bild, citing a high-ranking official of the Greek Ministry of Defense.

“It may take at least two months before we get the first tank from Germany,” the source said.

According to the publication, the Greek government is still awaiting an invitation from its committee to Germany to inspect the Marder tanks before receiving them. Only after the completion of this process, Greece will be able to transfer to Ukraine its old cars from the GDR.

“When Ukraine should get tanks – when will the war end? This is a circus. A mockery of both Ukraine and Greece. There is simply no reason for this. (German Chancellor) Olaf Scholz does not want to help Ukraine directly, but he does not want to openly admit it either” – said the official of the Greek defense department

In a commentary to the publication, military expert Christos Kapucis called the plan to supply weapons to Ukraine “dangerous”, pointing out that the Ukrainian military would not be happy with old tanks, as they could become an “easy target” for the enemy.

Recall, according to the German edition of Spiegel, Olaf Scholz fear that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will win a local victory in the war against Russian troops and cross the border of the Russian Federation, so the FRG is in no hurry to transfer heavy weapons to Kyiv, including tanks.

Earlier, the German media also reported that Germany almost did not provide Ukraine with weapons in two months. According to journalists, during this period the German government did not satisfy any request from Kyiv regarding the provision of light weapons and did not begin the promised supply of Gepard tanks.
