Greece: more restrictions for unvaccinated | Abroad

The measures also have an impact on tourists. Anyone wishing to visit museums or archaeological sites without a vaccine must be able to show proof of a negative rapid test that is no more than 48 hours old. Face masks remain mandatory in many places.

Minister Vassilis Kikilias (Healthcare) denies that there is any punishment for people who do not have themselves vaccinated. The policy is merely ‘what a responsible state’ should do, he argues. Half of all 11 million Greeks have been vaccinated and the number of infections is rising.

The measures, which will apply until March next year, are bad for part of the Greek population. On Thursday, there was a demonstration by hospital staff in Athens, among others. Employees who have not been vaccinated are required to be tested every one to two weeks. That costs ten euros per test.
