Greece is ready with the requirements for foreign tourists. A strict protocol on compliance with the measures in tourism is introduced, and all workers in the sector are vaccinated.
The Greek Minister of Tourism announced to the media about an approved protocol for accepting tourists this summer. According to Minister Harris Theocharis, a vaccination certificate or a negative AKP test is required.
At the border, authorities will apply a rapid test for coronavirus. They are insured specialized hotels for touristswho may show symptoms of infection.
From the first days of April, mass vaccination of workers in tourism begins, for this purpose sufficient doses have been provided, according to the Ministry of Health.
Officially, Athens has indicated that the tourist season will starts on May 14, and in case of an improved epidemiological situation it is possible earlier, according to Minister Teoharis.
Within the idea “Islands without Covid-19” a Dutch travel agency is conducting an experiment with 200 tourists. They can visit the island of Rhodes from April 12 for an eight-day vacation.
As part of this experiment, tourists who will be tested for coronavirus before departure and return will enjoy a holiday in an all-inclusive hotel on the island of Rhodes, at a price three times lower than the real one – 399 euros per person. The 187 people, who will be selected by 25,000 applicants, will not be allowed to leave the hotel, while after returning to the Netherlands they will be forced to enter a quarantine hotel for ten days.
According to the plan prepared by Sunweb in cooperation with the Dutch government, the 187 tourists aged 18-70 will be the only guests at the Mitsis Grand Hotel during their vacation.
Some have compared the holiday in the resort of Rhodes to a “luxury prison” on social media, as tourists will be able to use the hotel’s three pools and two restaurants, but will not be allowed to go down to the beach. However, this does not discourage those interested, such as 51-year-old Corina Gunderhaan, who told RTL Nieuws: “First I got the coronavirus and got seriously ill. Then I lost my job. And now what?” I look forward to visiting a resort and not doing absolutely nothing to recover from this turbulent year. “
