International organization Global NCAP, specializing in conducting independent crash tests of passenger cars, published test results Chinese pickup truck Great Wall Steed 5 for South Africa. The car failed the test without scoring a single point (out of five).
The tests were carried out as part of the #SaferCarsForAfrica campaign. They were attended by a pickup in the initial configuration costing 202 thousand South African rand (990 thousand rubles), for which there are no airbags, no anti-lock braking system (ABS), or a brake force distribution (EBD) function.
When simulating a frontal collision at a speed of 64 km / h, the head of the driver dummy hit the steering wheel with force, and the passenger’s head hit the front panel. At the same time, Global NCAP noted that the car’s interior had undergone significant deformation, which raises serious doubts about whether “airbags could help avoid serious injuries.”

Experts said that the driver and passengers of the Great Wall Steed 5 risk getting fatal injuries during an accident, so they gave the car a “score of 0”.
Previously zero in Latin NCAP crash test results got a small hatchback Kia Picanto for Latin American countries. The vehicle, equipped with one driver-side airbag and belt pretensioners, performed poorly in all tests. In particular, the dummy sensors showed a high risk of severe chest and whiplash (neck injuries) injuries in adults, as well as low child protection.
