The weekend is coming and you have to find something to do and take your mind off things. While waiting for museums, theaters and cinema to reopen, Lyon news has selected for you several ideas for walks in nature.
Small outdoor hikes that will be all the more appreciated because the sun will be there with a temperature that will reach 23 degrees at Lyon (Rhône) Saturday 24 April 2021.
Warning: the 10 km rules put in place during confinement are still valid, check that the proposed walks fit in your sector.
Ten ideas for walks outside Lyon city center
Of course, you can still walk on the banks of the Rhône going up north to find some greenery, or along the Saône towards theÎle-Barbe.
Another idea for a half-nature half-city walk: the Saint-Just district. The Visorando site offers a route from the fort, 500 m from the funicular stop. You cross a few parks before arriving on the Esplanade Lichfield in Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon where you will discover an exceptional panorama of Lyon and the Alps.
Since Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, you can also start a walk along the many stairs that will take you to the foot of the remains of the Roman aqueduct.
Speaking of aqueduct, one of the best-preserved parts is found at Chaponost. From the Plat de l’Air car park, you can admire the many arcades of the aqueduct and take a stroll between the pine plantations.
South of Lyon, direction the Saint-Genis-Laval plateau where you can make a loop between orchards and pastures. From the fort of Côte-Lorette, you will discover a very clear view of the Monts du Lyonnais as well as of the Chimie valley.
Of course, for those who want to take a breath of fresh air, you can also relax at the Parilly park in Bron or in the Fort de Saint-Priest.
Finally, for those who want to take a little height, Mont Thou dans les monts d’Or is just within the ten kilometer limit. You can start your ascent from Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or. Along the way you will surely come across the “cabornes”, these old dry stone huts typical of the Lyon region.
If you prefer to avoid too steep paths, you can also cross the municipalities of Mont d’Or from Caluire-et-Cuire. You will discover the balmes de la Saône (the balmes are steep hillsides, slopes or embankments which were often used as hideouts during the Second World War).
