The protest of police officers and wardens continues in front of the Ministry of Finance. Today the action passes under the motto “Wedding costumes or uniforms”, and the demand of the employees remains the same – increase of the salaries in the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice.
This morning, the tent of protesting police and guards dawned with two mannequins displaying the clothes of officers in the Directorate General for the Execution of Sentences.
A report by the union on online trade sites has shown that the prices of single models of costumes of leading brands are cheaper than those of the uniforms offered by the directorate. This is the reason why the camp of the protesters today is held under the motto “Wedding costumes or uniforms”, explained the SFSMVR and SSBZB.
For years, prison staff have thought clothing prices are too high. The security guards have been outraged by the quality of the fabrics, which lighten up after the first wash. The uniform with all available items – winter suit, summer suit, sweater, Cuban, knitted blouse, summer shoes and more. exceeds BGN 1,200 with a limit of BGN 600 per year.
In May last year, months after there was an increase in the annual limit from BGN 400 to BGN 600, which is due to those working in prisons, the union asked for an official opinion and data that convincingly prove the need for such increase, citing specific examples of the increase.
A long-sleeved summer shirt then rose in price from BGN 42.60 to BGN 59.34, a plain T-shirt from BGN 5.00 to BGN 14.00, a knitted blouse with epaulets from BGN 25.00 to BGN 41.76, summer trousers from BGN 48.00 to BGN 82.80, summer jacket from BGN 115.00 to BGN 161.40, and the price of a winter set is from BGN 276.60 to BGN 434.28, with apparently the same design, quality and input materials.
With its actions, the FASRB wants to remind the Minister of Finance of his announced top priorities for stopping leaks and corruption at all levels and to show how public resources are spent – citizens’ money.
