The Murcian team of Olympic wrestling has disputed the Spanish Championship of the under-15, under-17 and under-23 categories in the Galician town of Santiago de Compostela, where the regional delegation has won five gold, six silver and four bronze, plus another three podiums for autonomy and the title of champion and a third position for Club La Palestra.
The competition, organized by the Spanish Federation of Olympic Wrestling and Associated Disciplines (Felucha) and developed without public and under strict health security measures to avoid contagion of the covid, brought together a good part of the best young fighters in the country and among them several Murcians have stood out.
At the individual level, in the U-15 Greco-Roman wrestling, Pablo López Cerezo and Antonio José García García won titles in the categories of 44 and 85 kilos, respectively, and José María López Cerezo the silver in the 62 kilos.
Regarding the cadet category, Maravilla Fernández Spain has also won the gold in the cadet category of female wrestling among the competitors weighing less than 73 kilos.
Another gold has won among the under-17s in Greco-Roman wrestling Houssine Fakkak in 51 kilos and they have also climbed to the podium, although in the second drawer, David Díaz Sánchez, in 55 kilos; José David Montoya, at 80; and Mohamed Amin, at 92.
Murcia achieved second place by autonomy.
The Nacional also included the sub-23 category, in which Murcia achieved a loot of one gold, two silver and four bronzes with the role of Club La Palestra, which was champion in women’s wrestling and third in Greco-Roman. At the regional level Murcia added another second place in Greco-Roman and a third place in women’s free.
Among the under-23s, José Miguel Estévez Marín triumphed individually in the Greco-Roman 77 kilos; and were second Lorena and Carla Lera Celda in female freestyle of 72 and 76 kilos, respectively; while the bronze was taken by Carlos Vives Gil, in 55 kilos; Ayub Mrabet, at 82; Ángel Baeza Alcántara, in 97; and Gerónimo Cámara Sánchez, at 130.
