Zapping our Mondial PSG: Galtier’s cash response to Julien Fournier’s criticisms!
This week promises to be particularly crucial for the UEFA index. The ranking that calculates the number of points earned by each nation in the European panorama has taken on an even more decisive importance in recent weeks. From 2024, in fact, the new Champions League formula will assign four direct tickets to the fifth of this index. France currently occupies this position, ahead of Portugal and the Netherlands. However, the mixed results of the French clubs at the start of the European campaign threaten the precious place. The latter have only their 18th total this season, against the third for Portugal.
Two decisive direct clashes
France has a relative advantage over neighboring La Ligue 1 (52,331 points against 50,900 for the Eredivisie and 49,049 for the Primeira Liga). The direct clashes between PSG and Benfica and OM and Sporting will therefore assume considerable importance. In the event of a fall in the standings, France would only have two direct qualifiers plus a qualitative leap if they finish 6th and a qualification plus a qualitative leap if they finish 7th.
