Within the framework of the Great National Crusade for Nutrition (GCNN)he Ministry of Social Development
(Measurements) serves families with children at risk of food insecurity through contributions of Q500.
These actions are coordinated together with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) and the Secretariat of Food and Nutritional Security (Sesan), and currently, in the department of Chiquimula, coverage is provided to 24 families in 6 prioritized municipalities. .
The contributions
Monetary transfers are delivered for four months to the families of malnourished children, with the aim that parents have the resources to buy food and recover their child when the illness is acute.
In extreme cases of malnutrition, deliveries are extended to two more months, so that the infant reaches its ideal size and weight.
24 families receive economic transfers.
The departmental delegate of the measurements from Chiquimula, Mynor Sagastume, indicated that the objective of this intervention is to financially support the residents that the health center has identified with cases of the scourge, within the monitoring and evaluations that are carried out in all the
communities.
In the MSPAS, a list is made of the children who have been diagnosed with acute illness and, subsequently, Sesan verifies the data and transfers it to the Mides to grant the financial contribution through monetary transfers.
