The Philharmonia Orchestra of London, one of the most prestigious in the world, arrives in Puglia with a double concert, in Barletta and Bari. This morning, in the foyer of the Petruzzelli theatre, Maestro Alessandro Crudele, who will conduct the orchestra for the occasion, presented his ‘tour’, which will arrive at Petruzzelli on November 25th.
The initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture of the Puglia Region and Puglia Culture with the collaboration of the Municipalities of Bari and Barletta, includes two events in Puglia: 25 November in the Apulian capital and 26 November in Barletta.
For both dates the Orchestra, as mentioned, will be directed by Maestro Crudele, one of the most appreciated Italian conductors abroad who has a very close bond with Puglia; in fact, he was born to a father from Barletta and, despite having lived permanently in Berlin for some years, precisely to get closer to his origins, he chose Ostuni as his second home. The meeting with the press was attended by, among others, the mayor of Bari Vito Leccese and the municipal councilor for Culture Paola Romano.
“It is a great honor for us to host the Philarmonia Orchestra of London, conducted for the occasion by Alessandro Crudele, one of the great talents of our country whose origins lie precisely in our land – said Vito Leccese -. Generally the musical path of conductors is associated with the piano, while maestro Crudele is a violinist: personally I have always associated the sound of the violin with the movement of breathing, and in this regard I like to quote a phrase attributed to Sophocles, according to which ” The human being is only breath, the rest is shadow.” I believe that the common thread that unites maestro Crudele, the London orchestra and the Petruzzelli theater is linked to the relaunch of the production and artistic activity of our Petruzzelli foundation, which in the last 10 years, thanks also to the guidance of Superintendent Biscardi, has managed to conquer an international national dimension”.
“The presence of Alessandro Crudele here in Bari represents the opportunity for our audience to attend an extraordinary concert, given that we are talking about one of the leading exponents of that great tradition of orchestra masters that our land boasts – commented Paola Romano -. This is a possible result thanks to the synergy of the Municipality of Bari with the Puglia Region and Puglia Culture, which sees us united in valorising both the cultural professionals active in Puglia and those of those who, despite working abroad, maintain a strong bond with this land, as is the case of Alessandro Crudele”.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, the mayor presented Alessandro Crudele with a plaque of recognition from the municipal administration, which reads:
“To Maestro Alessandro Crudele, Apulian in origins and heart, who with his talent preserves and renews the great tradition of Italian orchestra conductors throughout the world. For his commitment to promoting the musical culture and beauty of Puglia and for having made possible the return of the Philharmonia Orchestra to Bari, on the stage of the Petruzzelli Theatre. The mayor of Bari with esteem and gratitude.”
