The Covid 19 continues to gain ground in the Grand Est as elsewhere. If the information is not in itself a surprise, the latest regional data provided by the ARS (regional health agency) and Public Health France highlight in particular the increase in the number of confirmed cases. This is the most spectacular clue: in 24 hours, their total rose from 677 to 1,581 (+904). The strongest curves are found in Alsace where the results have sometimes been multiplied by three (Bas-Rhin, from 177 to 500 cases) and… five (Haut-Rhin, from 40 to 199). In Lorraine, the increase is noticeable everywhere. The total of positive cases doubled in Moselle (135 to 255) and even more in Meurthe-et-Moselle (from 99 to 217). The curve is more moderate in the rural departments (Haute-Marne, Meuse, Vosges) or away from large agglomerations.

Hospitalizations: an assessment under control
Even partially, these increases are logically reflected in hospitalizations, although the 127 entries in the ten departments, including 13 in intensive care, reflect a balance sheet that still remains under control, such as the moderate increase in the number of deaths (+5). At 158.3, the incidence rates (new cases over seven days per 100,000 inhabitants) or the 8.8% positivity (percentage compared to tests) are significantly lower in the Grand Est than the national averages, respectively of 251.5 and 13.7%. The bar of the enhanced alert threshold (150) has certainly been crossed, but we are still below the maximum alert threshold (250). For the moment ?
The virus is however more present in regional capitals: incidence rate nearly 200 in Nancy, and 185.7 in Moselle, far from the reports of Strasbourg (259) and Reims (245). The closing times of bars are in the sights in Moselle where a decree of the prefect plans to set the deadline of 10 p.m. from Saturday. In Mulhouse, if the deterioration of the situation is confirmed, the health record has still remained under control in recent hours.
Overall, the increase in the pandemic concerning age groups particularly under threat (65 years and over) remains relatively controlled. In the Grand Est departments, the results are everywhere lower than those observed in the rest of French territory. The incidence rate of seniors is 110.7 (compared to 177.4) and the positivity rate to 8.6 (compared to 13.6).
