Great discovery… Almost as old as the big bang

Scientists announced that they discovered the farthest galaxy to humanity after 1,200 hours of observation with the help of four powerful telescopes. The galaxy was recorded as the oldest galaxy discovered, being 13.5 billion light years away from our Earth.

Even the part of the infinite universe that we can only observe presents us with new surprises every day. In this area, which we call ‘only we can observe’, with a diameter of about 93 billion light years, scientists this time managed to discover the farthest galaxy to the Milky Way Galaxy we are in. The first information about the galaxy was quite interesting.

It has been announced that the new galaxy, named ‘HD1’, which is the new discovery of scientists, is 13.5 billion light years away from Earth. While there are no clear findings about the type and features of the galaxy, according to another shared information, this galaxy came into existence almost 330 million years after the Big Bang. So the galaxy is too old for our universe.

IT WAS ONLY A DIFFERENT RED DOT BETWEEN 700 THOUSAND OBJECTS

According to the news in WebTekno, today’s technology unfortunately still does not allow us to observe distant galaxies such as HD1 in detail, or even to detect these galaxies. Because even quasars, the brightest celestial bodies in the universe, lose their brightness in the darkness of the universe at such a distance. The discovery of HD1 took place thanks to a total of four powerful optical and infrared telescopes.

The galaxy revealed itself after 1,200 hours of observations with the Subaru Telescope, VISTA Telescope, UK Infrared Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope. What betrayed the galaxy was the expected redness of galaxies this far away. This red light, which appeared among about 700 thousand objects, created excitement in scientists.

Scientists plan to learn more about this galaxy with the James Webb Space Telescope, which will be used very soon and will be responsible for investigating the first moments of the universe.
