In Córdoba, there is concern about the outbreaks of fires that have broken out in different parts of the province, and the most complicated situation at the moment is in Capilla del Monte, some 100 kilometres north of the capital of Córdoba, where there are already homes affected, people evacuated and there is a risk of intersafety, that is, that the fire from the mountain will completely spread to the urban area.
Agustin Fontaineof One Radio, Many Voices (URMV), commented on the FARCO News that the fire started the night before last in a neighboring town called Dolores. But, during this Thursday the fire “He crossed the road and entered the town side”, in Capilla del Monte, where this radio station, which is part of FARCO, is located.
It quickly spread towards a mountain range called Las Gemelas, which is the most affected area, and then began to descend from the mountain towards the town, again affecting two neighborhoods near the mountain range, on the slopes of Las Gemelas and Cerro Uritorco.
Fontaine said that the situation is complex and worrying, especially after the statements of the mayor of Capilla del Monte, who said that there is a risk of total interface, “That is to say, everything that is in the mountains passes towards the town and it becomes very difficult to control it. Hope is there, but the truth is that the outlook is very difficult.“, he stressed.
The spokesman for the Secretariat for Climate Risk Management, Roberto Schreinerstated that the work of the firefighters and brigade is intense and that the help of planes and hydrant helicopters will be added. There are approximately 200 firefighters working, fighting the fire hand to hand.“, he added.
He also highlighted the presence of fire stations that arrived from Villa Giardino and from the entire Punilla corridor. There are many resources put here, the problem is that there is such a low relative humidity in the environment, so low, that it makes the fire spread faster.“He concluded by asking that weather conditions improve today to combat the fire.
