According to police, Tiger Woods was alone in the car when it overturned south of Los Angeles. Other vehicles were therefore not involved in the accident. Investigations into the course of the accident have been initiated.
The golf superstar’s car was so badly damaged that the 45-year-old American had to be rescued from the wreck with a hydraulic rescue device. Woods was then taken straight to a hospital for immediate surgery. Local sheriff Alex Villanueva said: “He’s lucky he’s still alive.”

According to his agent, Mark Steinberg, Woods suffered “multiple” leg injuries. A Los Angeles County spokesman called the injuries “moderate to serious”.
