Great Britain. Harry and Duchess Meghan secretly visited Queen Elizabeth II

The Sun newspaper revealed on Thursday night that British Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had met with Queen Elizabeth II as well as the heir to the throne, Prince Charles. This information was confirmed by a spokesman for the princely couple. On the same day, Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch would not attend Sunday Easter mass.

British Prince Harry and his American wife, Duchess Meghan, met on Thursday with Queen Elizabeth II, as well as with the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, revealed the daily “The Sun” on Thursday evening.

The princely couple made an unannounced visit to Windsor Castle on their way to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, a competition for crippled veterans initiated by Harry. After the publication of “The Sun”, the fact that the meeting with the queen took place was also confirmed by the spokesman of the princely couple.

It was Harry and Meghan’s first joint visit to the UK since March 2020, after they ceased to be royalty and moved to the US.

Although Harry came a year ago for the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, but without Meghan. He did, however, miss the anniversary mass dedicated to him, which took place a few days ago. He then announced that he hoped to meet his grandmother soon.

It is not known if Harry and Meghan took their children with them – two-year-old Archie and 11-month-old Lilibeth, whom the Queen had never seen in person.

Since resigning from their duties, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the rest of the family has remained cool, largely due to several allegations that Meghan was not treated properly and interviews in which they repeated these allegations.

The Queen will not attend the Easter Mass

Every year, on Holy Thursday, Elizabeth II, in accordance with the tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, personally presents the elderly with Maundy Money, i.e. purses with specially minted coins, to symbolically thank them for their activities for the benefit of local parishes or communities.

Elizabeth II has recalled in the past that it was one of her responsibilities that gave her the greatest satisfaction, and in her 70-year reign she only missed the ceremony four times, the last time in 1970.

This year, due to increasingly severe mobility problems, the Queen decided a few days ago that the heir to the throne, Prince Charles and his wife, Princess Camilla, would replace her.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that the monarch will not take part in the Sunday Easter Mass at St. George at Windsor Castle, which is usually attended by the entire royal family.

In the past six months, the Queen, who will turn 96 in a week’s time, has attended only one major public event – the Mass at Westminster Abbey in memory of her husband, Prince Philip, a few days before the first anniversary of his death.
