At the end of the first free practice session at the Silverstone circuit – the only one that anticipates the qualifying that will determine the starting grid of the Sprint Qualifying – the best time was signed by Max Verstappen. The Dutch Red Bull driver, current championship leader, was more than seven tenths ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris. Performance to underline, that of the young Englishman, because it was obtained with medium rubber. Third, just one thousandth from Norris, Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes. Fourth and sixth the two Ferraris, with Leclerc and Sainz sandwiched on Valtteri Bottas’ second silver arrow.
