WALLDORF – After the 7-2 win over TSG Messel on Sunday, the second team of the Hessen league football club SV Rot-Weiß Walldorf can still achieve the desired promotion to the group league Darmstadt. An important player was Davide Lombardi, who scored four goals for the district premier league.

Before the game next Sunday at SV Hahn, the 20-year-old offensive player warns against underestimating the opponent: “We have to stay focused, treat every opponent with respect and take them seriously.”

Together with his brother Fabio, Davide Lombardi only came to Walldorf in winter. The talks with coach Ercan Dursun, who showed both brothers what is possible in Walldorf, were decisive for the move from RW Darmstadt to Okrifteler Straße. Dursun was already very interested in Fabio Lombardi in the summer. At that time, brother Davide was still playing in SC Viktoria Griesheim’s youth team. Only since the two have been whirling together on the field has the 20-year-old striker also come into focus. Since cousin Domenico Bancheri is also already active in Walldorf, the decision for RWW was easy, as Davide Lombardi explains. “With Domenico in sixth and Fabio in ten, we have a great axis.”

So far, the good impression from the talks before the change has also been confirmed in practice on the sports grounds. Davide Lombardi is particularly impressed by “that all the players are focused and want to win every game”. Ambition is high even in the final game in training because nobody wants to lose.

After learning to play football at TuS Griesheim, Davide Lombardi was on the ball for Viktoria Griesheim after the F youth. Davide Lombardi played as a six before he was converted to a striker, which was scarce in Griesheim.

Now he expects ten difficult matches on the way to the title, since the district upper league Darmstadt/Groß-Gerau is filled with many strong teams. He scored four goals in one game on September 16 in RW Darmstadt II’s 5-4 win at Hellas Rüsselsheim. “I’ve been playing up front ever since.” The accurate attacker could still develop into a decisive factor for Walldorf in the promotion race. After all, he has already scored a total of 19 goals this season.
