We have no words to describe how sad we are,” said the organizers of the Taylor Swift parties in Graz, expressing their disappointment at the last-minute cancellation of the three Vienna concerts. Since January, they have been holding “parties” with the music of their favorite artist at the PPC Graz.
And to offer some consolation and fill the void after the cancelled shows at the Ernst Happel Stadium, they spontaneously organised a “spontaneous Eras Tour Edition”. On Sunday from 3 p.m. there will be a celebration in the Parkhouse, in the middle of Graz’s city park. Because: “Taylor Swift and this community stand for solidarity, love and friendship and that’s why we want to make the best of it despite the sad news,” the invitation says. There is no age limit, no entry fee (but voluntary donations are welcome) and it goes without saying what music will be played. Outfits from the “Eras” tour are very welcome: “Let’s make the whole place shimmer,” they call out. The title was slightly adapted from the title of the PPC series: the party called “ParTAY” in reference to the artist’s first name is now the “ParkTAY”.
For every day that is cancelled, Graz artist Tom Lohner is giving away copies of his prints, which show Taylor Swift, which were specially produced for Swift’s concerts in Austria. “We feel for all Swifties,” he writes.
