Graz public transport draws attention to helpline

The issue of violence in relationships and prevention is becoming even more visible: Since August 1, the new poster campaign including an advertisement for the “Styrian Helpline” can also be seen in the more than 170 buses and 85 trams of Holding Graz.

State Councillor for Social Affairs Doris Campus: “A big thank you to Holding Graz for supporting this violence protection campaign and advertising our Styrian helpline 0800 20 44 22. 300,000 people who use buses and trams in Graz every day are 300,000 ambassadors. If someone needs help or advice in a violent situation, 0800 20 44 22 is the right number.”

The Styrian helpline for relationship problems and domestic violence offers anonymous and free initial advice on domestic violence and relationship crises around the clock at 0800 20 44 22. The service is aimed at all people of relationship age, from young people to seniors. In addition to the initial advice, if necessary, there is rapid referral to advice and care facilities. The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by phone and via chat.

State Councillor for Women Simone Schmiedtbauer: “With the new campaign together with Holding Graz, our new central helpline against domestic violence will be advertised on buses and trams. This means we can also reach an audience that does not consume traditional media. Many thanks to Holding Graz, which is making an important contribution to combating domestic violence.”

CEO Wolfgang Malik: “Within the Group, we have long offered our employees a wide range of advice and immediate assistance for professional or personal problems. In an urban company that contributes to the functioning of a city in all situations, CSR is a basic task.” CEO Gert Heigl added: “It was therefore obvious to us to support the Styrian Helpline as an anonymous and free initial consultation and to make it better known to a wider group of people.”

Managing Director of the Styrian Women’s Shelters Michaela Gosch: “Styria has a comprehensive network of violence protection and counseling services. However, we do not always reach all those affected in time to provide help before the situation escalates and violence occurs. The Styrian helpline for relationship problems and relationship violence offers support in precisely these cases. It is available to people who are unsure whether they are already in a violent situation or are still in a relationship dispute.”
