Five years ago, the hype was huge when two planes – an Ilyushin IL 62 and a Boeing 727-200 – “landed” on the roof of the Novapark hotel in Graz: One of the planes will as an aviator bar in 80s look The other is the Boeing 727-200 restaurant, which claims to be the only one of its kind in the world and is run at a height of 22 meters and offers anything but airplane food. “The flair of the original aircraft, comfortable VIP seats and the attached kitchen lay the foundation for a special experience,” says the description of the restaurant. It was recently only open on Fridays and Saturdays – and only until July 31st.
The concept is changing in August: From then on, the restaurant will only be available on request exclusively for parties and events. “Make use of the usual opening hours for the next two weeks! We look forward to your visit,” they invited in a Facebook post. Above the rooftops of Graz, you can still enjoy ice-cold drinks at the hotel – on the sun terrace 22 meters above the ground at the Ilyushin Il-62 or a little lower on the green outdoor terrace of the Nova Spa.
Vouchers can be redeemed in the aircraft bar, which also has a kitchen, or as a voucher. And: In the autumn, the aircraft restaurant could also “take off” again in the form of pop-ups.
