Graudiņa / Kravčenoka gives way to Brazilian duo in second match of Ostrava Elite 16 tournament / Day

The Latvian duo, sown with the second number in the tournament, in the second duel of group B with 0-2 (23:25, 18:21) gave way to the Brazilians Eduarda Lizboa and Anna Patrisia (7th).

At the beginning of the first set, the Latvian duo, gaining four points in a row, gained an 8: 3 advantage. However, the opponents gradually lost the advantage of Graudiņa and Kravčenoka, achieving equalization (15:15).

The Latvian pair managed to reach 20:18, but then the Brazilians scored three points in a row, winning the set with 25:23.

At the beginning of the second set, the Brazilians achieved a five-point lead (9: 4), leading the game to victory.

The Brazilians played better in the block, scoring five points against Graudiņa’s two points with the block.

The Latvian duo scored three points, two of them – Graudiņa, while the opponents only scored one point in this way.

On the other hand, Latvians made more mistakes (14:10).

It has already been reported that the Latvians started the tournament on Thursday with a 2-0 (21:18, 21:19) victory over the Olympic vice-champions Talix Clenzio / Mariafi Attacho del Solar (10th).

On Friday, Graudiņa / Kravčenoka will also compete with Americans Teresa Kenon and Saar Sponsors (15th).

In the “Elite 16” competition, 16 duets are played, divided into four subgroups, completing a one-round tournament, after which the two best pairs in each group reach the quarterfinals.

A prize fund of USD 150,000 (EUR 140,000) is distributed to both men and women.

It has already been reported that Aleksandrs Samoilovs / Jānis Šmēdiņš stopped in the first round of qualifying for this tournament.

The next stage of “Beach Pro Tour – Elite 16” from June 1 to 5 will take place on Majori beach in Jurmala.

The first level competition in the “Pro Beach Tour” this year is called “Elite 16”, the second in the ranking is “Challenge”, the third – “Futures” competition. In the first “Elite 16” tournament of the season in Mexico, Graudiņa / Kravčenoka won the second place.
