Gratwein-Straßengel: Education package: Free tutoring – Graz area

Gratwein-Straßengel: From now on there is tutoring for students who have problems with German and Co.

With the extension of the lockdown, homeschooling students now have to spread their exercise sheets on the tables in their kitchens and living rooms for even longer. Incomprehension, anger, but above all exhaustion spreads among the parents that they have to get work and lessons under one roof – but how are the children doing with that? In addition to a lack of structures and social contacts, many suffer from the learning support that can help if there are already deficits in certain school subjects. To counteract this, the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel has launched tutoring sessions in the “Lerncafé”.

offer help

“It is clear to us that with the renewed lockdown extension, many parents are slowly facing immense organizational problems. At the same time, we are also noticing that more and more children and young people are slowly losing connection to the school system,” says Gernot Papst, Chairman of the Education Committee. Youth and sport. The community has therefore reacted and is providing 50 free tutoring units per week to relieve the family. In cooperation with the open youth work ClickIn and the “ArGe Flexible Hilfen Graz-Umgebung” – a working group of twelve private child and youth welfare institutions – pupils from elementary schools as well as from secondary schools and lower grades of the Bundesgymnasium Rein should make use of the offer. The main focus is on the main subjects, a native speaker helps out for English.

And this is how it works

“We hope, as a congregation, to be able to offer at least a little further support in this challenging time up to the end of the semester. There are also current considerations to set further priorities in this area in the future,” says Pope. The individual lessons of 50 minutes each take place from Monday to Thursday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the ClickIn’s premises. The current requirements of the federal government can be complied with through the appropriate room layout and division of the personnel required for this. “The ClickIn immediately went mobile. The cooperation is going very well. The team is ready to help out.”
