Around three weeks ago, the Grasshopper Club Zurich announced the signing of Hayao Kawabe. However, the Japanese has not been used so far – and will also be absent this weekend. The record master clarifies the current situation.
When the Grasshopper Club Zurich plays their away game against the reigning champions BSC Young Boys on Saturday evening (8.30 p.m.), Hayao Kawabe will again not be part of the squad. The Japanese joined Zurich a good three weeks ago and cost over a million euros in transfer fees.
Kawabe’s absence is due to a work permit that has still not been issued. GC and Kawabe ”have long since taken all the necessary steps and delivered all the documents required to obtain a valid work permit. In addition, the Japanese player is already registered with the Swiss Football League and would therefore be ready to play from the side of the association, ”said a GC announcement.
The Office for Economics and Labor and the State Secretariat for Migration have already provided GC and Kawabe with all the necessary permits. The final confirmation from the Zurich Migration Office is still pending.
