Grapperhaus: King should have adhered to corona rules | Inland

According to outgoing minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice), there is no exception to the rules for members of the royal family. He has not addressed the king about his behavior on Thursday. “It is sometimes just difficult to stick to the rules, let’s be honest and clear about that,” said the minister.

Minister Tamara van Ark (Medical Care) also believes that the rules are “for all of us”. “The rules are there for a reason, and hold each other accountable if they are not complied with,” says Van Ark. She believes that the king has an exemplary function, but understands his “enthusiasm” during the visit.

Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) says he has not seen the images. It is, however, “good for everyone to keep the 1.5 meters”. He also acknowledges that this is not always easy. “But that’s not good, we really have to keep that rule for a while.”

‘Corona crisis over’

PVV leader Geert Wilders does not take it so seriously. According to him, ‘the corona crisis is over’. “De Koning set a good example, the chance of contamination outside is almost zero.”

The cabinet will announce further relaxation of the corona rules on Friday evening. Letting go of the 1.5 meters is probably not in between. Even now that other rules are being phased out, the cabinet invariably emphasizes the importance of keeping distance and washing hands.
