Grapperhaus: ‘Evening clock as a last resort’ | Inland

“In principle we have the legislation for that, but that is really a the ultimate cure, a last resort,” says the CDA minister. The measure that was introduced at the beginning of this year is not yet being considered around the Binnenhof. But Grapperhaus is pleased with its effect. “We’ve done it for about three months this winter. It also appears to have made a really good contribution, says the OMT.”

The justification for introducing the curfew was challenged at the beginning of this year, but the cabinet was still right on appeal. At the same time, an emergency law was quickly drafted for extra substantiation to be able to use the heavy substance. “So we just have a legal basis.”

Grapperhaus calls for everything to be done to no longer need a curfew. “We should not use extreme means immediately, because they are extreme means for that. Let’s all work together to make sure we don’t have to do that this winter.”
