Grapperhaus: catering establishments that ignore rules risk closure | Inland

From Saturday, the 1,5 meters will expire. Instead, a corona ticket is required for access to cafes, restaurants, theaters and cinemas. Some entrepreneurs are already announcing that they will not participate in the mandatory inspection. Grapperhaus says that this will be enforced immediately. “People who refuse and say: ‘I will not participate in that’ will immediately receive the appropriate measure.” According to the CDA minister, they risk closure. “That’s their risk.”

The minister says that it is being more lenient with entrepreneurs who accidentally do not have it right in the coming days. “It’s not going to go well for the next few days. People who do want to cooperate will receive a warning if they don’t do it right initially.”

Corona minister De Jonge also emphasizes that there will be a transition phase for benevolent entrepreneurs. “In the first weekend there will not immediately be a boa with a coupon book in the bushes.”

There are no excuses for not wanting to check, says Grapperhaus. “There is also extra money to help with enforcement and control. Municipalities and entrepreneurs can fill in that themselves.”

According to the minister, entrepreneurs are not only called upon. “As a visitor you just have to follow the rules and you have to have your pass with you.” Grapperhaus thinks the measure is short-lived and calls it the ‘final phase’. “The one and a half meters will be removed and we will have a recalibration at the beginning of November. We have to work on this for the next five weeks.”

He also thinks that checking the corona admission ticket takes less effort than some entrepreneurs now fear. “You see abroad that it can be done well. It’s not much work at all. It can work really well, look at stadiums where we’ve done that before.”
