The Bandung Municipal Government will also apply a new method to prevent dengue, namely by using Wolbachia bacteria. This bacterium will be implanted in the mosquito’s body, the impact of which is that the mosquito is not productive. However, the timing of the wolbachia trial has yet to be confirmed.
“We are considering the implementation of DHF prevention method, because it is stagnant, the success is low. Every year there are high cases. Then, we will instill the bacteria (Wolbachia) in the mosquitoes, so the mosquitoes are not productive and can’t transmit anymore the virus,” said the head of the health service (Dinkes). Bandung City Anhar Hadian, Thursday 1/95/2023).
Furthermore, Anhar said that applying wolbachia was a program of the Ministry of Health. Anhar admitted he is ready to hold trials.
