Leverkusen (dpa). Granit Xhaka from Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen has praised coach Xabi Alonso for his treatment of the team.
“He is brutally honest with us,” the 31-year-old Swiss told “Sport Bild”. “That is very important for us in this phase when everyone is praising us and when we are dominating our opponents. It’s not so easy to stay grounded when you’re constantly hearing how good you are. The coach makes sure that we classify everything correctly.”
After ten matchdays, Leverkusen is at the top of the Bundesliga with a two-point lead over FC Bayern Munich. Both teams are still undefeated. «We know that we have worked well to date. After ten match days, no club has yet become champion. I am convinced that our young team has the hunger to achieve great things,” said Xhaka.
