A child of about 5 years old has been missing since the beginning of the afternoon in the Grands-Jardins national park, north of Saint-Urbain in the Charlevoix region, on Wednesday.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, the boy would have escaped the vigilance of his parents. A report to this effect was communicated to them around 1 p.m.
The incident occurred on the Grands-Pins trail located near kilometer 19 of route 381.
Police officers went there to start a search, and reinforcements were expected in the middle of the afternoon.
Dog handlers and intervention module agents trained for forest research were to participate in the operation.
