CCTV control center agents found a woman in her 80s who had picked up 20 million won from the street in 40 minutes and recovered the money.
According to the Gyeonggi-do Goyang Police Station on the 4th, a report was received in Goyang-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, on the 24th of last month at around 1pm, stating that “I dropped an envelope with 20 million won on the floor, but when I went there, only empty envelopes were left.”
The owner of the lost money is an old man in his 80s, and it is said that he withdrew a check because he had a place to spend urgently.
Upon receiving the report, the police applied for a suspension of payment of checks to the bank and requested cooperation with the CCTV Integrated Control Center in Goyang City. As a result of monitoring the surrounding CCTV at the control center, it was confirmed that a woman took out a check from an envelope that fell on the floor.
Afterwards, the control center shared information on the suspect’s impression and real-time travel route to the police, and A, a woman in her 80s, who took the money, was arrested by the police about 40 minutes after the report was reported.
Fortunately, the police also immediately retrieved the check and returned it to the owner. Mr. A was imprisoned on charges of embezzlement of possessions.
