On this day, an official from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) referral promotion committee (Promotion Committee) said, “The intention is that Grandmother Lee Yong-soo will be fully recognized internationally and solve the comfort women issue.”
He said, “It will be the content that the Korean and Japanese governments urge and appeal to take them to the International Court of Justice.”
The official denied the direct relevance of the press conference and the controversy over the thesis by Mark Ramsayer, a Harvard Law School professor, who claimed that the Japanese military’comfort women’ were voluntary prostitutes through a’prostitution contract’. However, some extreme right-minded Japanese scholars expressed concern about their use in historical distortion, such as publicly supporting the paper. The press conference will be held at 11 am on the day at the press center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
